Identifying Paint Defects And Restoring Them in Controlled Lighting Below
What Happens During The Car Detailing Training
During the training course students work directly on vehicle paint while learning professional detailing techniques step by step in a hands-on workshop environment.
The training begins by teaching students how to identify common paint defects such as swirl marks, oxidation and light scratches. From there, participants are guided through the correct process of preparing paint surfaces and safely using machine polishers, pads and compounds to improve paint finish and restore gloss.
Students are shown how professional detailers approach buffing techniques to enhance paint clarity and achieve a smooth, reflective finish. The focus of this course is to teach safe and effective car buffing and polishing techniques, helping beginners gain confidence working with machine polishers.
Before polishing begins, students will also learn the correct methods of preparing vehicles through washing and decontamination processes to ensure the paint surface is ready for buffing.
The goal of this car buffing training is to show how polishing automotive paint can be learned quickly when the correct techniques are demonstrated in a real workshop setting. Many people assume machine polishing is difficult or risky, but with the proper guidance it becomes a straightforward process that produces impressive results.
This short course is ideal for people who want to learn the basics of car buffing without committing to a full detailing training program. The 3–4 hour buffing training session is perfect for car enthusiasts or individuals wanting to gain practical polishing experience that could lead to work in environments such as car washes or entry-level detailing roles. One of the most important skills in professional detailing is paint correction. This is the process that transforms dull, scratched or swirl-marked paint into a deep, mirror-like finish. During the course you will be shown the techniques used to achieve results like the highly reflective finish shown on the roof of the vehicle pictured.
These are the same paint correction methods customers pay professionals for, and once you understand the correct process you can apply these skills in your own work to deliver outstanding results for your clients — just as Dr Buff has been doing for many years.
The techniques taught during the training apply across all vehicle colours and paint types. Whether you are working on white, black, red or blue paint, the same principles of safe machine polishing and paint correction apply. Many beginners feel nervous working on black vehicles because defects show more easily, but the training will show you how to confidently correct paint on even the most challenging finishes.
Using the same professional methods demonstrated on vehicles like the black Mercedes shown, you will learn how to safely restore and enhance automotive paint across a wide range of colours and finishes.
If you’re serious about learning professional car detailing and paint correction, contact Dr Buff today to secure your place in the training course.

Hi Pete,
One of the best investments I’ve ever purchased is the one day course that Peter (Dr Buff) instructs on paint correction. I was hoping it would be worth my time and money as I travelled from Perth to attend the full day’s course and I am pleased to say it far exceeded my expectations. It was a full day and was well balanced between theory, examples and practice with some = on-the-spot tests which made you think quick and become more comfortable with implementing what I had just learnt. All in all, I learnt some new skills and I am now totally confident to apply them to my car and others. Peter made me feel like part of the family for the day and I have made a new friend and a valuable contact. Thanks Peter.
Lee.
PS The wait for my Flex gear is killing me.
Paint Correction Training. Ken here came to me in need of looking to increase his service levels in paint correction training as he already had a business to run and was also competing against another competitor in his home town. I must say that although he was a good detailer he wanted to sharpen up his correction methods and by the end of the day, he was tested in his ability to correct paint to a glass finish and I must say he passed his correction training with flying colours. Congrats Ken and best of luck in the future and your new found knowledge
Hi Peter
Thanks for my car detailing training in August for the Dr Buff Advanced paint correction training. Having been in the detailing industry for about 30 years, working all over Australia for most car makes common in Australia and having recently opened my own business, I realised that buffing paint had changed since the 80’s and some training to sharpen up my buffing skills was needed.
I had been looking for this training for some time and was prepared to travel to England but then I found Dr Buff’s training course and he had the answers I was looking for. The course is hands on and I found that my confidence and skill had been boosted greatly from Pete’s training methods. Peter’s passion for training is sincere and refreshing. I am now getting great results with the Flex and rotary buffs. My customers are amazed at the results.
Thanks Pete for a really great day and some really good chocolate cake after my training.
Thanks again Peter
Ken
Detailing Training For Johnny Boy
John here came from Newcastle to be trained in paint correction. For privacy purposes we can’t disclose his business but from what John took away in knowledge, it will be the change of his business and make the huge difference to his bottom line that he has been yearning for so long.
The products John was using were ok but John was using them incorrectly. We quickly pounced on the issues with John’s paint restoration complications and after some intensive training in practice and theory about removing swirl marks and scratches from paint work, Johnny saw the light in how correcting car paint work and that also how restoring paintwork through correction, is not the same thing as car detailing specialists. It is here where years of guess work and trial and error are eliminated through proper schooling in correction and detailing training so if you are looking at detailing courses with a difference, give us a call.
